Let’s talk about the weather…..

Let’s talk about the weather…..

We expect everyone is very happy that we’ve all enjoyed a lovely sunny weekend after a long cold winter! However, we do live in Melbourne and we all know that means rain can happen at any time whether it’s supposed to be Summer or not! Melbourne is very much like our native UK where you have to be prepared for any weather and especially on such an important day as your wedding! We’ve been very lucky over the years that we have (touch wood!) only had a few very rainy days, most of the time it will have cleared by the afternoon but occasionally the weather decides that it is going to continue to rain all day. This can be very disappointing but just remember this is a special day of celebration and you are marrying your loved one no matter what the weather is doing! Our experience over the years means that we’ll find somewhere to still produce some lovely photos for you, in fact we quite enjoy the challenge of having to get even more creative! You don’t need a huge amount of space but we look for an interesting feature which could be a lamp, a painting, textured wall or an interesting piece of furniture and make the most of what is available. With some venues we are luckier than others but there is always something we can use and then we can work some magic in post-processing! Try to have a wet weather back-up plan for a beach or outdoor wedding or make sure if rain is forecast to have plenty of umbrellas available. We have two white golfing umbrellas which we use for our couple and then more for us to hold over each other or find a willing helper!   Just after the ceremony for Karen and Justin’s wedding the heavens opened! Luckily we found this rustic wall for some photos, as you can see the overhang didn’t give much shelter!   It’s still raining but Karen really wanted this shot in front of the old gate so Steve is holding the umbrella whilst Kim takes the shot!   Running for cover after the shot!   We headed back to the reception venue but guests were already arriving so we found this quiet room, rearranged it a little and we were able to get an additional set of images for them!   Megan and Gary’s wedding gets the prize for the wettest day! The rain started just as Megan arrived at Seawinds on Arthurs Seat. We managed to get through the ceremony but it turned monsoonal at the end and everyone had to run for cover!   They are still happy and smiling...

Michelle & Martin’s Wedding

Michelle & Martin’s Wedding

We caught up with Michelle and Martin recently to present their wedding photos to them! They were very excited to see them after their honeymoon in Europe visiting family in two countries and exploring a few more. We also were away during their trip visiting the UK and as chance would have it we were on the same flight out of Melbourne! Knowing they would be visiting family we had printed out a few pictures and handed over the surprise package to them at the airport, it was so lovely to be able to do this for them! We were so lucky with the weather on their special day as it stayed calm and sunny which not only meant we were able to get some fantastic images down at Point Leo beach but the lake at Summerfields was like a mirror, so we love all the reflection shots. Venues can look quite different in the winter months but the bare trees around the property give the images a more arty and graphic feel to them! They had hoped to have the ceremony outside but the ground was still a little wet but that is the great advantage of a venue like Summerfields as they have such a beautiful indoor ceremony room as well! Michelle and Martin planned an entertaining day for their guests so whilst we went for photos at the beach the guests enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea followed by drinks and canapes. Michelle had arranged a surprise for the guests and after the main course an Italian chef appeared and started singing! He was followed by his Maitre d’ and they had everyone singing and waiving their napkins in the air! Martin was also invited up to accompany them during one song by playing the triangle! During the rest of the evening the guests enjoyed dancing to the band Popcorn who are fantastic! This is the second time we’ve seen them this year and we can certainly recommend them. Michelle and Martin also had a photobooth and as you can see below everyone had great fun dressing up using the props! Michelle and Martin had a wonderful wedding day at Summerfields looked after by Joyce and her amazing team and here are a few images from the day!      ...

Michelle & Martin – Sneak Peak

Michelle & Martin – Sneak Peak

We were so lucky yesterday with some glorious winter sun for Michelle and Martin’s wedding at Summerfields Estate on the Mornington Peninsula.  Unfortunately the ground was still too wet after a week of rain to have the ceremony outside but we were able to go to a nearby beach for photos and then catch the last of the light down by the lake at Summerfields. Here is one shot from the beach yesterday and more to follow when Michelle and Martin have seen the rest…..which will be a few weeks as they are off to visit family overseas in Europe for their honeymoon!...

Katrina & Luke

Katrina & Luke

Katrina and Luke were very excited to see their wedding photos during the week and they went away very happy after reliving their day which they said went by in a blur! Their wedding took place at Poet’s Lane Receptions with the ceremony in the chapel and the photos were all taken in the pretty gardens. There are so many different areas around the property and we’re sure we could have carried on for another hour or so! The sun came out giving the turning leaves a golden glow and there is a stunning backdrop of trees and shrubs surrounding the lawn area. Katrina’s preparations took place at her Mum’s house and Luke and the guys got ready up at Poet’s Lane. They had accommodation for the night before and the night of the wedding for the bridal party and guests, we also understand that the wedding party took over a local restaurant for breakfast the next day! Katrina wore a beautiful dress with a top layer of Italian lace and as you can see in the photos had “Katrina and Luke” printed in her shoes! The ceremony was very personal with nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters giving readings and their friend sang during the service. We just loved Luke’s glances at Katrina during the ceremony which Steve was able to capture from the side, one of the advantages of having two photographers! They had a great bridal party who were game for some fun shots and then we chose some quiet areas for Katrina and Luke’s photos whilst the guests enjoyed drinks and canapes. The reception room was beautifully decorated and the guests enjoyed using the photo booth during the evening followed by some dancing on a very packed dance floor as they have so many friends and family! Katrina and Luke both couldn’t stop smiling and laughing all day, one very happy couple!          ...
